- 最近好吗? (zuìjìn hǎo ma?): have you been well lately? A softer version of the same question.
- 怎么样? (zěnmeyàng?): how's it going? Short and casual, for people you already know.

How to answer "how are you" in Chinese
Keep your answer short. These cover the whole range from great to meh:
- 我很好 (wǒ hěn hǎo): I'm good. The standard positive answer.
- 还好 (hái hǎo): pretty good, okay. Relaxed and neutral.
- 还行 (hái xíng): not bad, alright. Similar to 还好, very common in speech.
