Free Printable Chinese Character Practice Sheets

Most printable Chinese worksheets are static PDFs of someone else's character list. This generator builds sheets from your characters, whether that's the vocabulary in this week's lesson, the words you keep forgetting, or a full HSK level. The teaching aids are laid out the way Chinese schools do it: a model character with numbered strokes, a stroke-by-stroke order diagram, guided tracing that fades out as you go, and empty squares for independent writing.

Choose 田字格 (tian zi ge) or 米字格 (mi zi ge) guides, US Letter or A4 paper, and how much support each row gives: Guided fade starts at a full model and fades through lighter and lighter traces, Trace all fills every square with a light outline, and Copy blank shows only the model so you write from memory.

Even if you type most of your Chinese, writing characters by hand builds the component-level awareness that makes new characters memorable instead of arbitrary. Once you've physically written 讠, 扌, and 氵 a few hundred times, an unfamiliar character stops being a picture and becomes a combination of parts you already know.
